The Kraft Pulping Process is Used in the Majority of Pulp Mills.
It utilizes caustic chemicals to pulp wood, creating a product that is stronger than that made by other pulping processes. Kraft pulping is very complex and presents many challenges, such as high-pressure steam in power and recovery; scale build-up from green and white liquor in the recausticizing area; erosion from lime mud; high consistency pulp; pH control in the bleach plant; and corrosion from chlorine dioxide.
