On August 15, NECI proudly announced that they were named to the Inc. 5000 for the first time in company history, recognizing them as one of the fastest-growing privately-owned companies in the nation.
Jenn Azar, President and CEO at NECI, had the pleasure of sharing the news during the company’s quarterly meeting, expressing her immense pride and respect for the nearly 500 employee-owners who make up the team, highlighting the company-wide dedication that led to this outstanding feat.
“Our appearance on the Inc. 5000 list is a testament to the loyal customers who trust us with their business, our world-class partners with whom we share passion and purpose, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines each member of our strong employee-owned company,” Jenn wrote via a LinkedIn post congratulating the team. “Our growth trajectory is a testament to the power of shared purpose and values and the extraordinary synergy that exists within our company, but also within our networks.”
Of the 5000 companies named to the list, NECI ranked #3396, being the 37th highest ranked engineering company. Jenn Azar is one of only seven women CEOs leading engineering companies on this top list of engineering companies Inc 5000 list. Only one of two engineering companies on the list in Massachusetts, NECI ranked 1st, setting a new watermark for the corporate headquarters region.
Companies on the 2023 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2019 to 2022. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2019 and must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2022. The minimum revenue required for 2019 is $100,000; the minimum for 2022 is $2 million.
“Running a business has only gotten harder since the end of the pandemic,” said Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. “To make the Inc. 5000—with the fast growth that requires—is truly an accomplishment.”
In that 3-year period, NECI has grown by 148% and more than tripled its employee-owner headcount, marking unprecedented figures for the company. NECI looks to use this milestone as momentum to aim even higher, working alongside our loyal customers and partners to push boundaries in the industry and provide efficient solutions and services.
Jenn Azar echoed this sentiment, saying, “It is our vision to be the number one enabler of operational and business outcomes for synthetic biology and the energy transition through digital transformation, and the Inc. 5000 honor acknowledges that we are well on our way.”
NECI is extremely proud of the work we accomplished over the past few years, but this is just the beginning. This recognition of being on the Inc. 5000 is a great honor, but it is an even greater motivator for the work to come.
